Itsuki flops down face-first onto the bed and exhales loudly. He’s so fried. Being in their fifth different country in 15 days is a bit much. It’s too much time on airplanes and in cars, but such is the life of being on this Asia tour. Something that Itsuki would not do for himself, but for Yashiro…
“Are you alright, Itsuki?”
“Yeah. Don’t worry about me. I just need a moment.”
When Yashiro returned to the music stage after the successful two-year run of “The Pilgrimage of Heinrich”, the goal was to go big. The play had been live recorded and distributed worldwide, and Yashiro’s popularity had grown immensely. Suddenly there were requests for reprints of his older singles, his old posters, his old magazine shoots. The demand for Yashiro’s presence from fans both in Japan and internationally was remarkable and Itsuki could not be any prouder of his partner, his “husband” in all but name at this point.
So the tour dates and locations were decided, as well as Itsuki’s schedule. Maiko and Ayaha would cover some stuff, but otherwise Itsuki would work remotely so he could join Yashiro. Because they never had time for a honeymoon, even after exchanging promises and rings. Although Itsuki wouldn’t liken this to a true honeymoon…
But it still has been worthwhile. Not just to go up and see the skylines of Hong Kong and Taipei, Singapore and Bangkok. Not just to go down to eat the food in small cafes and restaurants off the main road. Not just to go out to see temples and gardens and enjoy tea. Because that’s maybe a quarter of their time. The rest is spent…
Helping Yashiro with his stage outfit. Bringing him water and towels to wipe his face. Getting Yashiro to the car, up to the hotel room. Running the bath.
Holding him at night.
“I love you.”
“What’s this all of a sudden?”
This Asia tour will make many precious memories, but for Itsuki, being together is already enough.
“Just wanted to say it.”
Yashiro smiles, laughs. He understands.
“I love you too.”
