Short summary: Mun muses on what "love" is while Kroa sleeps in his arms.
In a luxurious hotel room, in a city and a country Mun has never visited until today, after a fulfilling day of sightseeing and a delicious dinner to cap it off… These facts feel trivial compared to fact that he has the most important person in his life sleeping in his arms… That just half an hour ago he had said person pressed into the mattress as passion overtook him, had savored the feeling of their bodies joined as one in the most intimate of fashions, and while she is now asleep, he is still awake and…musing.
"Kroa." He says her name out loud because he likes saying it. He likes saying it while running fingers through her hair, up and down her back, or gently along her face.
"Kroa." He had been attracted to her from their first meeting, but it’s nothing compared to what he feels now. His ability to see what people are thinking only catches what they feel on the surface, what is right there at that moment. It has allowed him, many times, to steer the conversation in particular directions. To nudge an opinion towards one he prefers. To make people think, right then, that they are making the right choices.
But she defied that. She broke away and showed him the light. She made him look inside, deeper, at himself, and made him realize...
He understands want and desire. He understands gifting and compromise. He understands pleasure and satisfaction.
He understands anger and irritation. He understands disappointment and sadness. He understands greed and jealousy.
But what is love, really? Is it the way his mind drifts to her face at any idle moment, his thoughts circling on ways to make her smile? Is it the way his mood drops when he hears that she is too busy to meet? Is it the way his eyes can't help but narrow any time one of her subordinates puts a hand on her, touching what should only be his?
"Kroa." He says her name like a prayer meant for a goddess. She is beautiful enough to be one.
"Can you teach me how to love?"
Can she teach him, so that he can be her first and her last lover? Mun finds, once again, that when it comes to Kroa… He doesn't know the right answer. But even so, he won't stop trying to find it.
