Short summary: Lillet is surprised when the fairies she's summoned gather around Amoretta in a friendly manner.
“Oh, that’s surprising. I didn’t expect them to like you.”
Lillet had been doing some light glamour magic practice summoning elves and fairies when Amoretta appeared. Normally Amoretta doesn’t come in Lillet’s magic practice room, but perhaps Lillet had lost track of time while going over the basics, in her nervousness about teaching her first students next week. Lillet is about to call the fairies back, knowing they aren’t fond of the unnaturalness of alchemy, but instead they move towards Amoretta and circle her. They don’t attack; actually they put their bows away and begin to dance. Because of Amoretta’s song?
“Lillet!” Amoretta exclaims, stopping her song. The fairies move aside as she steps forward to take one of Lillet’s hands in her own. “I missed you.”
“I missed you too. Though it’s only been a day, right?” Lillet says with a smile. “You’re still so needy.”
“I always want to be with you, my love.”
Lillet sighs in fond exasperation but is surprised when she hears the sighs echoed among the fairies. The fairies that she forgot about for a moment. “Oh love,” they murmur before eventually flying off, leaving Lillet and Amoretta alone.
Well, that was all a bit strange, but fairies have always been whimsical and Lillet would have dismissed them anyway, so they at least saved her a bit of effort. Elves, on the other hand…
“I do too, but…” Lillet steps back. “I should probably clean up here a little? I won’t take too long. Then let’s eat dinner together.”
Lillet will need to make sure her beginner grimoires are truly put away before Gaff comes in and accidentally moves it to the “old” pile. Yes, she tends to use much stronger magic nowadays when the occasion arises, but every grimoire is useful, especially for new students…
Amoretta smiles. “I’ll make that stew you really like.”
“Again?” Lillet laughs. “Amoretta, dear, it shouldn’t just be about the food I like.”
“But I like it too.” When Lillet gives Amoretta a questioning look, Amoretta adds sheepishly, “Because you like it.”
Lillet shakes her head. Amoretta may be more human-like now but inside there’s something… That angel part, perhaps, will never go away. Well, besides the fact that as a homunculus in body she won’t look old, ever. At some point it might bother Lillet, aging when Amoretta doesn’t, perhaps when she looks much older than Amoretta. But for now they look about the same age, and when they hold hands, like proper lovers…
“Hmm, maybe the fairies like you because I like you?” Lillet muses as she looks back at her summoned runes and closes their connections. As the elves and fairies, runes and gates disappear, Lillet thinks back to how nice Gaff has always been towards Amoretta. Yes, perhaps that matters more, over the issues of basic magical essences. It’ll be something to think about later, though, because Amoretta is waiting for Lillet to finish and…
“Alright, I’m finished. Let’s go.”
“Yes.”
…Waiting to take Lillet’s hand and return the love that Lillet uses to sustain her. It’s a strange that love can truly be such a powerful energy source, but well, even as a human, Lillet thinks it might sustain her life force a little too. Eating a dinner made with love certainly does, as well as the post-dinner cuddling, and the sleeping together at night, and…
Well, those can be musings for later. If she gets too lost in thought, Amoretta will really make the same stew as yesterday. Just because Lillet likes it, it doesn’t mean she wants to eat the same thing every day, especially when she can afford more... When she can share more with Amoretta…
(There’s always more that can be learned, that can be shared. As long as they continue to be together…)
