Short summary: It's a rainy day and L'Arachel worries.
They are on the battlefield once more, fighting more of those wretched remnants, the evil that must be banished so that light can return to this world. And as a troubadour, L’Arachel is towards the back of the formation, riding from place to place, tending to wounds as soon as she can, as many as she can, as quickly as she can. She takes pride in this work, because it supports a righteous cause, and evil cannot defeat righteousness. And she does it with a smile, because it’s also important to keep spirits high. Although she also worries, always worries.
But this time L’Arachel is a little more worried than usual. Because it’s just begun to rain, and it’s just a little more dangerous out there in the rain.
It’s not just about visibility per say, although that certainly doesn’t help. It’s not just about clothes getting soaked, making one’s body have to fight not only against the enemy but against the extra weight and coldness of wet equipment. It’s about having to be a little more cautious, a little bit slower. It’s about being just a little bit farther away from the front lines, where her dear Eirika fights. And if L’Arachel has enough trouble keeping a smile and cheer up in this dreadful fight, well…
She won’t imagine it. She refuses to imagine it. Because nothing will change.
But she does grip her staff a little tighter. She keeps her eyes and ears open, for teal blue hair, for Eirika’s gentle voice. She might have saved a few special staves, kept them off the inventory, although she hopes she never has to use them.
And she rides. She prays. She thinks of her parents long gone, how happy they made her for the seemingly brief moment they were in her life, and asks them to watch over her. And her beloved Eirika.
Of course Eirika might not know just how dear and beloved she is to L’Arachel, but there is a time and a place for such a declaration. It has not been appropriate, yet, but one day it will be. And certainly not an awful rainy day like today. Until that time, they must survive. L’Arachel will make it so, or else…
