It takes half a minute for the attendant to finally leave, and it is only then that Evelina can relax. Behind these closed doors she can finally drop her forced smile. She can finally be weak and let her heart freely speak her true desires. She can finally open the box hiding her greatest treasure, lift it up, and bring it to her face.
Leticia…
She kisses the top of the skull like she has done many times before. It is her nightly ritual, ever since she came into possession of said object. The only true part of Leticia left in this world, for that “daughter” of hers is no true daughter of Leticia. With that red hair, there is no way that girl is actually any part… And yet Leticia is gone because of that girl.
Evelina despises that girl, now and forever. She does not care how cruel she is to said girl, because she could never replace Leticia. She could never be worth the loss of Leticia.

Evelina knows Leticia would be upset to learn how Evelina has treated her “daughter”. Leticia would have loved the girl, doted on the girl… if she were alive to care for her. Perhaps Evelina would have even tolerated said girl in that situation, but…
