Short summary: Yuzuriha expects to make dinner today but finds Nerine in the kitchen unexpectedly.
After her work shift, Yuzuriha had returned home, changed into something more comfortable, and was now walking into the kitchen only to stop halfway. Because someone was at the counter doing something she wasn't supposed to do today.
"Neri." Yuzuriha waited until Nerine looked up from her cooking in progress before continuing. "Why are you making food?"
"Isn't it time for dinner?" Nerine's eyes flicked to the clock. But that wasn't the issue.
"But why you?" Yuzuriha knew it was dinner time; that's why she had come to the kitchen. "Isn't it my turn?"
It was only fair for a couple living together to split chores evenly. If Nerine cooked last night, then tonight should be Yuzuriha's turn. And Yuzuriha's cooking was…decent enough to eat, even if not gourmet. Nerine didn't have a problem with it…right? Unless…
Nerine chuckled. "There was extra bread at the bakery so I took some home and thought we could have sandwiches."
Oh, the type of dinner Nerine was making should have been obvious. Sandwiches were rarely eaten for dinner in their household, but the logic was sound. "Well I wouldn't want good food to go to waste." Yuzuriha felt less guilty now about not fulfilling her "turn" in the cooking rotation. Instead she walked over to Nerine and kissed her lightly on the cheek to show appreciation. "Thanks, Neri."
Nerine smiled. "Prepare the drinks at least?"
"Roger."
