Short summary: Erika was reading a book when Chidori surprised her with her cold hands.
Sunday afternoons were perfect for curling up with a book, especially during the winter time, with an occasional break for some tea. Thus when Chidori left, after lunch, to go to the ballet studio, Erika had just waved her off and made herself comfortable on her bed with her latest library pickup. Hours passed unbeknown; Erika was so absorbed in her book that she hadn't noticed Chidori's return until Chidori's cold hands touched her arms. Startled by the cold touch, Erika almost dropped her book onto the ground.
"Why are you cold?" she complained, her words coming out through gritted teeth. Chidori's lucky that Erika hadn't lost her place in the book. "I thought you were practicing all afternoon?"
"It is snowing outside, if you even bothered to look out the window." Chidori sighed. "And I was in a rush so I forgot to out on my gloves."
"Why did you…" Erika realized halfway that she didn't need to ask why Chidori was in a rush. It was already past 5 PM. If they didn't get going soon, they would miss out on the best time for dinner. "Well, let's just get going then." She gave Chidori a wry smile. "Some hot soup should warm you right up."
Erika expected Chidori to nod along, but instead Chidori's hands pressed harder against Erika's sleeves. "Or you could hug me for a bit." Chidori pouted when Erika gave her a raised eyebrow. "Come on, just a little?"
Well, Erika wouldn't be able to get to the dining hall as fast by herself, so… "Fine." She brought Chidori closer, until she could feel Chidori's breath on her neck. They would hug only for a little bit, she told herself. She was willing to indulge her Amitie, but just until it became too embarrassing…
