Short summary: Suoh feels eyes on her. She finds that Mayuri is looking at her.
There are eyes on her, but Suoh takes a breath and remembers to observe with an unclouded mind. Here at the academy there certainly can be ill-meaning looks, but Suoh has learned that more often than not people are looking around with curiosity.
Then she steals her courage and takes a peak, a quick sideways look, and is surprised that the eyes on her are Mayuri's eyes. She waits a heartbeat and then turns around fully.
"Is something wrong?" Suoh is not sure her anxiety is making her imagine a level of scrutiny in Mayuri's gaze but she knows it's best to just ask. "Why are you looking at me?"
Mayuri smiles shyly. "It's just…I still can't believe how different you are compared to when we met."
Suoh understands that nearly 9 months can make a difference in how a person acts, especially with all she did in order to bring Mayuri back. And while Suoh has some confidence that the changes she has undergone aren't unappealing, when it comes to Mayuri…
"It's strange that everyone gets to see sides of the Suoh that I fell in love with."
Suoh's breath catches upon hearing Mayuri's follow-up. Is it true… Because Suoh wanted to know Mayuri better, had opened up to her over time, that the traits that others say they like about her have come to blossom?
"Mayuri…"
Mayuri chuckles. "I'm glad. Although I hope some of it is still reserved just for me."
"Of course!"
Suoh swears there will always be something just for Mayuri, whether it be special feelings, thoughts, or actions…
