Short summary: A few days after new year, Ringo finds her twin crying.
A few days after the new year started, Ringo found her normally cheerful-looking twin looking anything but. She ran over to Ichigo while scrambling to think of anything that would have happened recently to cause her twin to look so morose. A choked sound from Ichigo made Ringo freeze in place, both mind and body. Ichigo was trying to speak.
"She…She's really not coming back."
She? The pronoun alone did not mean much, but “not coming back” could refer to a small number of people. But of that small number…
"They really aren't coming back."
Ichigo could really only be referring to one person, the one person they had both admired and fallen in love with and dated for a short period of time. And Ringo could only be referring to that same person plus her best friend and true beloved. The hole left at the academy by Yuzuriha and Nerine was enormous. Yes, there was already the new Council of Nicaea and stuff - Suoh and Rikka were involved in all that - but the other things those two had brought…
Ringo froze once more at the sound of sobbing. She looked at Ichigo and was astonished by the view of Ichigo openly weeping, unable to wipe the tears from her eyes.
"Why are you weeping?" She asked rather bluntly while crossing the remaining distance. She pulled Ichigo into her arms, hugging her twin as Ichigo continued to shake from her crying. Now that Ringo thought about it, they had cried some when realizing Yuzuriha would never love them back truly in the same way. But they hadn't cried over the fact that Yuzuriha was actually gone…gone from their lives.
After a few pats from Ringo, Ichigo seemingly calmed down. "Ringo…" Enough to murmur Ringo's name.
Ringo continued to pat Ichigo's back softly. "It's going to be okay."
"Yeah…"
Those words were said just as much for herself as for Ichigo. Losing one's first love was pretty common anyway, right? Not that it made things any easier right now…
