Rikka watches the tall girl walk away from her to talk to the twins, bubbling with chatter about other people they both know. Rikka shouldn't be unhappy; she and Suoh have been in a relationship for a week already. While it had an unconventional start, she should be happy with the result. Suoh chose her. She was chosen over Mayuri.
But… Suoh feels both closer yet farther away. Rikka gets those moments of physical closeness that she's desired, but she also feels Suoh's tension. Suoh is…stiff. Suoh is…uncomfortable.
"Why are you scared of me?" Rikka thinks to herself as she stares at Suoh's back. Because that's what the stiffness and discomfort suggest. Suoh doesn't pull away, though, so Rikka should be satisfied, right?
She has to be, because she chose this. To have something instead of nothing…?
