"Yeah?"
Keiichi isn't surprised to be called out by Fuwatari after school. They've become good friends, especially after Keiichi became an omega, since Keiichi came to understand more about Fuwatari and vice-versa. Keiichi still asks Fuwatari about dealing with life as an omega, while Fuwatari is one of the few classmates that understands what Keiichi really is and Keiichi's home situation.
"I was wondering…about you and your boy…" Fuwatari's face takes on a bit of red as he hesitates on whether to say "boyfriend" or not.
"Hakurou?" Well, to be fair, Hakurou sort of is and sort of isn't Keiichi's boyfriend. Mostly because…
"Since you're both omegas…"
"Ah. No worries." Keiichi laughs. That's exactly the reason he and Hakurou are in this in-between state. "We're kind of unusual, huh?"
Not that Keiichi has much experience with romantic relationships, not even from observation. His parents were an alpha and omega couple, only atypical because male omegas are rare. He's heard of beta and omega, alpha and beta, beta and beta couples. But alpha and alpha, or omega and omega couples?
"How do you…" Fuwatari's fingers twitch as he tries to word his question. "Does it work when…" Finally he just shakes his head, cheeks red, and Keiichi has to guess. Probably about sex, considering the embarrassment…
"I'm on top for the most part. Even when I stay an omega." Keiichi, though, isn't embarrassed to talk about this. He's already had to ask and learn so much about heats and suppressants that sex is just another topic to him. "Sure, it's a bit easier if I'm an alpha when we have sex, but I like being an omega. It just feel more like myself."
Or maybe because Keiichi is confident in who he is now. It took some time to get used to being an omega, and a half-vampire, and all that entailed. But he's alive, he was able to rescue Hakurou during his time of need, he has a future to look forward to, and he's sure his parents would be proud of the man he is becoming…
Fuwatari bites his lip. "Even if he craves an alpha?"
Yeah, of course that has come up. Keiichi and Hakurou haven't had that conversation directly yet, but Keiichi is pretty confident on his read of Hakurou's feelings.
"I don't think he would want 'me' to be an alpha." A certain red-haired vampire's image flashes through Keiichi's mind. "You know what I mean?"
Fuwatari cocks his head. "Because you're 'stupid'?"
"Yeah?" Keiichi doesn't know whether to laugh or cry, because anyone who has been around him and Hakurou for more than five minutes would have heard that word and made it a primary association to their relationship…
"But also we're rivals and friends too, not just lovers." Which, at least to Keiichi, means they should be more equal. "And even if Hakurou won't ever admit it, I know he likes being stupid with me." Thinking back to their last little competition, the way Hakurou grumbled when he lost, Keiichi couldn't help but ruffle his hair… "Ah, he's just so cute."
"Who's cute?"
"Hakurou!" Keiichi couldn't help his grin. It was if thinking about Hakurou summoned the man here. If only Keiichi could also spend the schoolday with Hakurou… He and Genma haven't quite convinced Hakurou to give school a chance, to overcome his anxiety around crowds of humans as well as improve his social skills, but… Hakurou willingly entering the school grounds to find Keiichi is better than nothing, and Fuwatani and Tani both recognize Hakurou even if they don't dare to address him directly yet.
"Stupid Keiichi, why are you still gossiping? We have work to do."
Keiichi nods but turns his attention back to Fuwatari. He gives Fuwatari a resigned look. "See, Genma is his #1 ideal alpha so…"
He catches a glimpse of Fuwatari's nod before he is yanked by the arm to face Hakurou. "Do you want me to kick your ass?"
Keiichi laughs. Hakurou is just so predictable. "I'm going! See you later, Fuwatari!" He manages to give Fuwatari a wave before Hakurou pulls him out of the school grounds. They are running, fast, for no reason other than the fact that Hakurou is making them run so fast. Is it due to urgency of their work for Genma or more the fact that Keiichi had been "wasting" time with Fuwatari? Keiichi decides to tease Hakurou about the possibility of the latter.
"Hey, don't be jealous. Fuwatari would love to be your friend too."
Hakurou's face turns red. Oh, Keiichi hit the target with that comment? "Shut up, Keiichi!"
A typical Hakurou retort. To be honest, Keiichi wouldn't want it any other way. He yanks on their joined hands for a moment, catching the off-balance Hakurou in his embrace. He presses a light kiss to Hakurou's mouth. "I love you, you're so cute."
Hakurou freezes for a second before shouting "Shut up!" once more. Keiichi would laugh but Hakurou blocks that with a kiss of his own. It's brief and soon their bodies are moving forward again. But this time Keiichi has no problem running alongside Hakurou, just like the two silly brats they are.
