Short summary: Something looks different about Shiori today.
“Shiori! Kou-chan’s waiting for you.”
“Okay, Mom. Just a moment.”
Shiori smiled at her reflection in the mirror before grabbing her schoolbag off her desk and heading downstairs. She grabbed her bento box from her Mom and met her best friend outside.
Kou was tapping his foot. “You’re late, Shiori. Did something happen?”
Shiori smiled. “Nothing in particular.”
“I’m not sure that’s good or bad…” Kou muttered. After taking a moment to look Shiori over, he shook his head. “Something looks different about you today…” He frowned. Shiori didn’t want to give him the answer yet. She was curious how long it would take Kou to figure it out. For someone who saw her nearly every day, he could be a bit…oblivious.
They made their way to school in companionable silence, walking quickly to make up for Shiori’s tardiness. They managed to catch Ryouta and Jun in front of the school a few minutes before the first bell.
“You’re late!” Ryouta exclaimed. He looked at Kou with suspicion. Kou didn’t have a moment to protest when Jun interrupted.
“Nice clips, Shiori.” Shiori smiled back at Jun. Trust Jun to notice things like that right away. Kou, meanwhile…
“Oh! That’s what’s different today.” Well, Shiori got her answer.
“Even I noticed that, Kou!” Ryouta exclaimed, always ready to one-up Kou.
“Really?” Kou snorted. “Why did you look so shocked, then?”
“Well…”
Shiori and Jun laughed. Kou and Ryouta continued to argue about who was better at noticing changes in their friends’ appearances while the four of them made for the classroom. Shiori and Jun walked a bit ahead of the arguing duo. With those two thoroughly distracted, Jun caught Shiori’s attention and pointed to his left wrist. Shiori wondered how long it would take for Kou and/or Ryouta to notice the other new change. The thin bracelet around her left wrist was a recent gift from Asuka. Speaking of Asuka…
“Asuka too?” Well, this time Kou and Ryouta tied in noticing the purple ribbon tying back Asuka’s long hair. Shiori wondered, though, if they would figure out the connection anytime soon. For now, though, she opened up her Xiphone to see a message from Asuka.
Asuka: You look good with those clips, Shiori.
Shiori: Thank you! The ribbon looks good on you too.
She also saw a message from Jun.
Jun: Congrats? I mean, I already knew, but I guess it’s officially out now?
Shiori: Thanks, Jun.
She looked over at Asuka one last time before Towa-sensei began homeroom. The ribbon really did look nice… Maybe she’d give Asuka her pink one to wear next time.
