Short summary: Geis is not used to waking up with someone.
Geis wakes up feeling strange, like he is inside a warm cage, and his first thought is to free himself out of this prison.
But then he sees red so bright, so intense, so incredibly red, and he relaxes. Oh, it’s just Adol. He exhales, his heartbeat calms down. Geis isn’t used to sleeping with someone in the same bed, but this inn room only had one and it was better than the floor, so…of course he woke up disoriented. He still feels a little disoriented and he doesn’t like it. So he puts his hands on top of the arms that surround his torso and begins to push them aside.
“Geis?”
The voice is quiet, strained…a little disappointed? Geis pauses.
“Uh…”
“Was it too much?”
Adol begins to pull his arms back, the shirt material slipping against Geis’ fingers. Geis feels a lump build up in his throat. He has too many words he wants to say and not enough coherence to sort through them. But he doesn’t want Adol to be upset. At the last second he catches Adol’s fingers before they too slip away.
“Uh…”
Adol seems to understand what Geis is thinking. He entwines their fingers together and gives Geis a reassuring smile.
“It…wasn’t bad.” Geis feels his cheeks flush. That’s not quite accurate, but whatever. “Just…not used to it.”
Adol chuckles. He pulls their joint hands towards his body, and then lets go, so that Geis’ hands rest on his waist.
“Better?” Adol asks cheekily.
“No!” And Geis pulls his hands back immediately, returning them to his sides.
Adol laughs. He sits up and straightens out his shirt. “We’ll just have to practice more then.”
More practice? More practice would mean…deliberately holding each other when they share a bed again next time? Or deliberately sharing a bed even if there are two beds?
Geis sputters at the images that come to mind. That’s just… He turns his gaze to look up at Adol who has already gotten fully dressed and is about to leave the room. “Uh…okay?”
Geis isn’t 100% sure what he is agreeing to, but when Adol gives him a radiant smile, well… It’ll probably turn out fine?
