Title: things we (don’t) say, things we (need to) say
Rating: M
Fandom: Final Fantasy 4
Relationship: Cecil Harvey/Kain Highwind, Rosa Joanna Farrell/Cecil Harvey
Wordcount: 5247
Short summary: Kain has returned to Baron, has returned to Cecil’s side, but still Cecil worries about their relationship. But so does Kain. And Rosa is just the right person to help.

There’s that look in Kain’s eyes, again. Or rather, that lack of a look, the lack of focus, that…blank feeling.

Cecil doesn’t want to grab Kain roughly, but he finds his hands tightening on Kain’s shoulders nevertheless when it looks like Kain is slipping away again. What would it be like, he thinks, for Kain to look at him the same way he touches him? What would it be like if Kain was truly and completely there and not split in two? Cecil knows that Kain loves him at some level. He knows that through the caresses, through the kisses Kain gives him willingly. But why doesn’t the affection reach his eyes? Why are those eyes looking away, even when they are open?

Cecil kisses Kain’s jaw, closing his eyes so he doesn’t have to see that look anymore. He knows it’s greedy to want every piece of Kain for himself for a moment, but he only craves one moment. One moment where he is enough for Kain. That his love, his desire, his need for Kain is enough for Kain to stay.

Yes, Cecil’s afraid. He worries that Kain will slip away again, back to Mount Ordeals. Tomorrow when he wakes up Kain may no longer be in their bed, may no longer be in their castle, may no longer even be in a place that Cecil can reach…

Why are things like this? What can Cecil do to keep Kain?

Why is loving Kain so wonderful and yet so…painful?

Even so, Cecil continues to touch Kain, continues to move his hands down Kain’s body, to bring his hips flush against Kain’s, to grind against him. If his heart is in a little pain, he masks it by sinking into heat, into desire…

His hands grip tighter, his mouth fastens onto bared skin. He bites, he marks…

So that even if Kain were to leave, he’ll have a reminder that Cecil wants…

*****

Rosa raises her brow when Cecil passes her with a tight smile on his face. Sure he’s not excited to meet with the ministers once again, but as soon as she steps into the bedroom, she knows the exact cause of Cecil’s currently…mixed emotions.

“Rosa.”

Kain is still lying on the bed, covered by some sheets. He sits up when she moves towards him, sheets falling down to reveal his bare chest. It’s very likely he’s still naked under the sheets too. But he was the one who called out to her, so she figures she can still come to the bed and sit down next to him.

“What is it, Kain?”

Up close she can see clear evidence of the lovemaking that occurred before she entered the room. She doesn’t know if it was minutes or hours ago, but she also doesn’t care. The three of them have an understanding; what two of them do together alone doesn’t need to be hidden from the third, but also doesn’t need to be retold.

“Can you just…listen for a bit? I have something on my mind.”

Since Kain returned from Mount Ordeals, he’s had a more…weighty…tone to his words at times. He’s shown more hesitance, more reservations. But at the same time, Rosa has felt closer to Kain now than she did before, when he desired too much an affection that she could not return in full, when he confused said desires for her with his desire to win against Cecil. She and Kain do love each other, somewhere between friends and lovers. They embrace, they kiss sometimes, but anything else channels better through Cecil.

But maybe not everything is the best with Cecil at the moment, she thinks as she remembers Cecil’s tight smile. Sometimes loving more makes things harder, not easier.

“Of course,” she replies, leaning against Kain. Kain wraps an arm loosely around her waist. “I’ll always have an ear for you.”

“Thanks.” Kain exhales into Rosa’s hair. His fingers dance against Rosa’s side, irregularly. He’s likely struggling to put his thoughts into words. Rosa waits patiently, doing her best to exude calm and quiet.

“Well, uh… It’s about Cecil… Or well, me and…”

“Hmm?”

“It’s just…” Kain sighs. “I know I’m not worthy—”

“Stop right there.” Rosa doesn’t raise her voice often, but she’s annoyed, irritated, angry. For she’s heard those words out of him a hundred times by now. “I know you told me to listen but start over, with less self-deprecation.”

Kain’s breath hitches before he finally relaxes with a chuckle. “Okay, Rosa.” Rosa rewards him with a light kiss on his cheek.

“I know something isn’t working…between me and Cecil. Something… It’s not physical, but maybe…an emotional issue?”

Rosa would have laughed if Kain had said that there was a physical issue between him and Cecil, considering those marks, but she feels silly realizing just now that Kain’s right about the emotional aspect. Both Cecil and Kain have their own…ways of thinking, ways of feeling. Neither of them have shaken off their upbringing of competition and rivalry, of needing to look “strong”, of needing to be the “top man”. Perhaps their competitiveness makes their lovemaking result in…those marks…but also makes it less satisfying, because they are fighting too much?

“As in…I think he sees me as something I’m not. And I…don’t know if I have the same problem towards him.”

“Hmm…” Rosa is apt to agree with this assessment, even if it didn’t occur to her first. It makes complete sense that this could be a cause the current issue between them. It’s worth exploring, at least.

“Why don’t we start with how you see him, then?”

Kain nods. “Well… He’s a great guy. Wants to believe the best in people. Has a strong sense of justice. Wants to protect those he cares about. Wants to help those who need help.”

Rosa can hear Kain’s voice start to thin. His breath hitches, and he pauses to recompose himself. When he continues, it’s so quiet, that Rosa is forced to concentrate on the sounds of his voice over the sounds of his heartbeat.

“I don’t know…if he sees me as someone he needs to protect or someone he needs to help.”

Rosa sighs. She completely understands where Kain is coming from, but she thinks he’s slightly off in his assessment.

“Honestly… It’s not a need but a want for him. And he wants to both protect and help, no matter how strong you are.” She chuckles dryly. “It’s really the only thing we fight about.”

Kain hums, seemingly digesting her words. “So he’s too busy trying to see me as someone he wants to help?”

Rosa nods. “But he doesn’t realize the way you would want him to help, right?”

Kain’s jaw drops in surprise. He takes a moment to clear his throat. “That’s probably it.”

Rosa smiles encouragingly. “So now we need to figure out how you want him to help you.”

She doesn’t feel so bad about pressing Kain on this issue when he has come to her for comfort and support, because what’s better than actually figuring out and solving the problem? But she’s also patient enough to wait for Kain to find his voice, to look inside his own heart and let it speak.

“I just want… I want to be… Someone worthy of his time.”

Of course Rosa can’t help but frown at those words coming out of Kain’s mouth once again, but she doesn’t interrupt him this time. She just presses into Kain’s side a bit harder and takes his hands in hers.

“I want him to be able to…relax when he’s with me. To stop…worrying. To be…less hesitant around me. Like before…all this stuff.”

Rosa knows exactly what Kain means by “all this stuff” and she squeezes his hands firmly. No matter how much forgiveness and repayment happens, no matter how much is clarified and understood, the events that occurred cannot be erased. It will always affect them, like a lingering scar.

“Although I know I have changed too, but…”

A silence falls over them. It seems Kain has finally let out all his words, even if it ends in an incomplete sentence. Taking a moment to imagine herself in the room, watching, troubleshooting, she keys in on a particular thought. No one can stop worrying when they love someone dearly. But hesitation…

“Are there certain moments where he seems to hesitate more than others?” she asks.

Kain frowns. “When… When he wants to kiss me.”

Rosa raises an eyebrow at that. Considering the marks from lovemaking over his chest, she can’t imagine how Cecil would act if he wasn’t hesitating with Kain? Would the intensity of marks be higher, or…?

“I see him glance at my lips a lot, but then he’ll kiss my jaw or neck instead.”

Oh. That’s…something. Rosa knows she and Cecil share a lot of mouth kisses, since Cecil seems to take a lot of enjoyment from that. She does too, of course, but she’s always wondered…what it’d be like to be in Kain’s place. To have Cecil’s mouth more on other parts of her body. But to think it might mean something else…

“He also… Sometimes he looks like he wants to say something after he…touches me…”

Kain blushes and Rosa can’t help a giggle. “It’s okay. You don’t need to censure your words for my sensibilities.”

Really, she sees all the evidence already. It’s not like it’s hard to imagine what Cecil does with Kain, was just doing with Kain earlier today.

“Uh…” Kain coughs lightly. “When he grips onto my hips and grinds up against me… He looks like he wants to say something, but then he just bites my neck instead.”

“Hmm…” So that is why Kain’s neck often has a lot of bruising… To think it comes because Cecil is holding back emotions instead of unleashing emotions is still odd for Rosa to grasp with, but at the same time it seems very…Cecil. She sighs. What a mess.

“Perhaps he’s wanting you to respond to a cue, but you don’t understand it. So he does something you will understand instead.” Rosa sighs once more. She sympathizes with Cecil’s plight, just a little. “My guess is that he wants to be gentler with you.”

Kain blinks in confusion. “Huh?”

“But he feels like you don’t respond to such actions from him.”

She feels Kain stiffen and wonders if he’s feeling guilty. She doesn’t mean to accuse him but rather explain… But when she looks up at Kain’s face, she sees a blank expression and unfocused eyes. So…he’s retreated somewhere in his mind. Rosa isn’t here to rush him. She does slip out of the embrace, though, mostly so she can pace a little bit. It’s a little selfish to use this conversation with Kain to think about her own moments with Cecil and how those could become better as well, but… Everything is better when everyone is happier, right?

She’s about 10 paces away when Kain chokes. “I… I have to admit…”

She stops pacing but doesn’t close the distance, electing to just stand and patiently wait, with her eyes on him, to continue speaking.

“Sometimes I spend so much energy trying to keep my inner thoughts away that I do need something strong to…anchor me…” Kain balls up the edge of the sheets in his hands. “But it doesn’t have to be…physical, necessarily…?”

“So…words?”

“Yes.” Kain bites his lip. “His voice…helps me. At night, when I have thoughts… I try to think of his voice instead of…things…”

Rosa nods. “I see.” So Kain has trouble staying in the moment, missing Cecil’s “cues”. “You need Cecil to be firm with his actions because you need something to keep you in the present instead of stuck in the past.”

Kain hides his face in his hands. “It makes me sound weak.”

“You’re not.” Rosa has half a mind to go off on the reasons why Kain isn’t weak for needing someone, but that can be a talk for some other time. Right now she needs to push Kain in a different way. “But you know he’s dense like a stone wall, right? He’ll never understand unless you tell him and show him what you mean.”

“Rosa…” Kain lifts his face enough to look into her eyes, his lips pressed into a slight frown.

“But I understand, I think.” She hopes she’s coming to the right conclusion. “It’s awkward to explain. It’s embarrassing. You’re afraid of his reaction.”

“I…” The way Kain chokes up shows her she’s right.

“But if you never clear this up…” Rosa pauses, giving Kain time to catch on that she’s about to give him a warning. “He won’t let you go, but he’ll always wonder if he’s not enough. And you’ll never be truly happy. Are you okay with that?”

Kain bites his lip then shakes his head. “I don’t know…”

Rosa sighs. She feels strangely relieved to hear Kain say that. It’s straight, honest feelings, and that’s more important than an affirmative answer. She offers him some comforting words to close out this conversation.

“Well, seeing as we’ve just gotten to this point, I don’t expect you to know right now.” She gives him her most encouraging smile. “I’m really happy you talked to me. I hope it helped you. And I might be able to help you.”

“Rosa, thank you.”

Kain smiles at Rosa as she comes over to give him a light kiss on his right cheek. She’s really proud of Kain for being able to go through this entire soul-searching session without shutting down. This is not the Kain from years ago, from before, and maybe this is one of the things that ended up becoming better despite…all that.

She takes a few steps to the door before turning back around with some last words. “I’ll leave and let you get dressed in peace. I’ll also let Cecil know that you’re fine, so feel free to go whenever.”

“Thank you.”

And with that, Rosa leaves, shutting the door. She exhales before making her way outside for some fresh air. She expects Kain to leave the room soon after her, to leave Baron castle for a bit. He might be gone for a day or two, but she’s sure he’ll be back sooner than later. He wouldn’t have asked for help if he didn’t want help, if he didn’t truly love Cecil from the depths of his heart.

She may need to distract Cecil a little bit tonight, but…she truly feels like there’s a better future in store for the three of them, after this.

*****

After Rosa shuts the door, Kain slides out of the bed and puts his clothes back on slowly. He knows Rosa and Cecil will be gone for another hour at least, likely. He has more than enough time to slip out, to slip away.

He doesn’t know why he picked this moment to talk to Rosa, to ask her for help. When he was clearly still naked and would have no means whatsoever to escape without embarrassment. But after everything they’ve been through together, he just…trusts her a lot. He knew she wouldn’t take advantage of the situation.

And Cecil… Even if Kain had still only half-opened his eyes after Cecil thoroughly fucked him into the mattress, he saw that Cecil was…not satisfied. In Cecil’s eyes, there was…sadness, maybe? Maybe Cecil couldn’t voice what it was that bothered him, even though he had more than enough energy to bite all over Kain’s upper body. And Kain knows, if anyone could figure out what that thing bothering Cecil might be, it would be Rosa.

So they talk, and Kain spills so many words more than usual, he wonders if someone cast a spell over him, to loosen his tongue. Strangely he still feels his tongue loose, along with his heart bursting. He should take some time to calm down. Rosa said it is fine for him to leave and didn’t say when he had to get back, so… He can have all the time he needs. He’s truly thankful to Rosa for this.

Once he fixes his armor back in place, Kain makes his way discretely out the castle. It’s still best that the people don’t see him coming in and out the royal bedroom so frequently, especially when he’s not accompanied by them. The closest guards know the situation and have sworn to secrecy, but the rest of the kingdom is hopefully blissfully unaware. Because Cecil and Rosa have this image of purity, of light, and Kain is…

Darkness.

Darkness has forever tainted Kain. And besides, Kain doesn’t want the recognition anymore. He only is here because of Cecil and Rosa, because he loves them and they love him. A part of him still feels like he would be better off still on Mount Ordeals banishing that last bit of darkness in his soul, that part of him that wants to be Cecil, wants to be Rosa, wants to be loved for everything, no matter how twisted or wrong…

He hadn’t the heart to tell Rosa that he not only found himself unworthy of being in her and Cecil’s life, but that he found a part of himself disgusting, not just embarrassing…

“But if you never clear this up… He won’t let you go, but he’ll always wonder if he’s not enough. And you’ll never be truly happy. Are you okay with that?”

Does he deserve to be happy? Kain doesn’t care about that so much, but he does care about Cecil’s happiness. Seeing Kain’s face makes Cecil happy. Kain can believe that, can see that smile that stretches easily and the cheer when his name is said in greeting. But when, after… When Cecil leaves with a sigh, with downturned eyes…

Kain is one step out of the castle but hesitates to take a second step. What is he doing? Where is he planning to go? He sits down and closes his eyes, searches for more voices, searches for Rosa’s words once more.

"You’re not weak.”

“You’re not.”

Kain sighs. He doesn’t want to leave the castle, now. He feels like taking that step outside would be…unsafe. He feels like he’ll lose something? He’s already missing the warmth of a bed, or maybe of a hand on his, caressing it… Maybe he wants to get this conversation he needs to have with Cecil while his heart is still open to…saying things that he normally wouldn’t say out loud. To fix things now.

He stands back up after some time and climbs back up the stairs. The guards who are to be discrete still act discrete, so it is only when he’s basically at the door of the royal bedchamber that he realizes that he can hear two voices inside, Rosa and Cecil’s.

“Have you tried to listen to him? Not just hearing his words, but understanding the meaning behind them? Behind the words he can’t say?”

“Rosa…”

Kain’s hands fly to his mouth. Oh, are they arguing…over him? He starts to feel guilt pooling in his gut; he really didn’t want his problems to hurt Rosa’s relationship, but…

“Because Kain and I don’t love each other the same way that Kain and you do. And it’s fine because we know where we stand with each other. We don’t have anything to prove to the other.”

“That’s not—”

“He feels more shame when it comes to you, specifically. But he also feels a lot deeper love.”

Kain wonders if he’ll be able to stomach hearing Rosa say these words to Cecil. He knows she’s doing it to help him, to help Cecil understand, but hearing his own feelings said out loud in such a way…

“If I… If I were to ever hurt you the way he had, I would also find it difficult to be around you, even if I loved you.”

Kain hears Cecil’s breath hitch and he feels a tightness build in his chest. Rosa’s right; he does find it difficult to be around Cecil, even though he loves Cecil. Because of that, he’s hurting Cecil, right? Cecil’s straightforward, obvious… And in this situation, obviously deciding that his own pain is worth it if it protects Kain from…

“How do I—"

“Yet I would never truly go away. If I felt like I could manage to somehow still be stable enough, to keep my mind away from dark impulses… I would still want to be by my love’s side, even if I didn’t feel worthy.”

Kain wonders, maybe, if Rosa knows more about the things he didn’t say to her after all.

“So that’s it.”

Kain exhales quietly. Cecil’s quiet words sound like acceptance, which is…of course Kain should have never doubted.

“And you’ve said something like that to me in the past, too, now that I think about it.”

“I’ve been too dense.”

And now, self-deprecation. Kain holds back a chuckle. Well, Cecil’s oblivious nature is the one aspect he would not hold back to criticize Cecil on, even now, so…

Rosa laughs. “Yes you have been.” A moment later, he hears shuffling, and then the door opens. “Kain, come in.”

“So you sensed me out there.” Kain enters the room and locks eyes with Cecil who is still sitting on the bed. “I didn’t mean to eavesdrop.”

“It’s all right,” Rosa answers. Cecil is just still staring back at Kain, his lips parted but no words forming yet. “Cecil, I will be gone for…a few hours.”

And when she passes by Kain on her way out, she whispers, “Good luck.”

“I will do my best.”

The door shuts and all is silent for a moment. Then Cecil’s lips move, a cry comes out.

“Kain…”

Kain rushes over to the bed and kneels in front of it. “I’m sorry.”

“No, I’m sorry.” Cecil tugs Kain’s body upwards, pulling hard enough that Kain falls on top of Cecil, pressing Cecil into the bed. “I love you, Kain. I love you so much I—”

Kain kisses Cecil, briefly, just to interrupt. He hopes Cecil isn’t disappointed, but he has something he really needs to say to Cecil, right now.

“I love you too. I’m sorry I can’t express myself well.”

The apology feels like a weight off Kain’s chest but immediately Cecil is shaking his head. “No, I should listen better.”

He pushes Kain off of him, gently. It’s not a rejection but rather to let them reposition themselves, so they can both be sitting upright when they finally, really talk. They face each other and hold each other’s hands. It’s the…softest Kain has been with Cecil in a very long time. It’s kind of strange, since Kain has only really…been like this with Rosa. And that’s probably a bad thing, right? He’s been…afraid to be this vulnerable to Cecil. Because Rosa was right; because he loves Cecil more, he’s also more…ashamed…

“Because…” Cecil squeezes Kain’s hands, bringing Kain back into the moment. “I’ve only thought about what I see, what I feel. I didn’t think about your feelings.”

“Cecil…” Kain takes a deep breath. It’s time for him to talk about those feelings. His loose tongue…is still loose, but also feeling a little clumsy. Kain braces himself for a fight, internally. The way that Cecil is holding Kain’s hands firmly helps.

“Sometimes I… I struggle to stay in the present,” he begins.

“Kain…”

“There are…many things I regret. But I have good memories too, even during those times of my biggest regrets.” Cecil is frowning at Kain’s word choice, but he doesn’t interrupt. He truly is listening. So Kain keeps pushing.

“Sometimes I get…lost in there.” Lost in memories. “But I have also learned something… Something I didn’t even tell Rosa…”

This causes Cecil to gasp. Perhaps it is surprising, after the conversation Cecil just had with Rosa. But Kain believes, and he’s pretty sure Rosa believes too, that some things are only shared between two people. Some things are only understood by two people and two people alone.

Kain hopes Cecil will understand; it’s too late to ask for anything else.

“There was something pleasurable about the time my mind was controlled. Something pleasurable about not having to think about the consequences of my actions. Something pleasurable about knowing I would make someone happy just by doing what they told me to do.”

“That’s…” Cecil seems at a loss for words. After a few moments of silence, Kain can’t take it anymore.

“Disgusting, right?” Kain guesses. This is his shame, the stain he’ll carry with him forever.

“No!”

“Cecil?” Kain had snapped his eyes open, eyes he didn’t realize he had closed, at Cecil’s vehement shout.

“There’s nothing wrong with wanting to please someone!”

Kain feels Cecil’s hands gripping his so tightly. Cecil’s…angry? No, just passionate. “But…”

“There’s nothing wrong with wanting to make someone happy. To serve someone, to be loyal to someone.” Cecil shakes their joined hands. “Isn’t that what we strived for together, back as young trainees? Was that a bad thing?”

“That’s not—”

“You just have a different personality than me. That’s completely fine. And…” Cecil pauses, his cheeks turning pink. “Well, I didn’t consider you might…but…”

Kain isn’t exactly sure what Cecil is trying to say, and if it is embarrassing or not. But he’s so very, very happy with the fact that Cecil thinks he’s fine, just different, and Kain wants… “I want…”

He wants to make Cecil happy. He wants to so badly.

“Kain?” Cecil releases Kain’s hands and moves his fingers to Kain’s face. Fingers tap at along Kain’s jaw, brush against Kain’s cheeks.

“Please tell me what you want, Kain. I want to make you happy. I want to make us happy.”

Saying “I want to make us happy”… That’s right. That’s the right way to phrase it.

“I think… If you talk to me more… While we are…doing things…”

Kain finds his face heating up, thinking about how deep Cecil’s fingers had dug into his skin, to hold him down… It’s only when Cecil pinches the skin of his cheeks that Kain realizes he has shut his eyes. Because now he is witness to Cecil’s blush.

“That’s… Well, I can try… No, I will do it!”

Well, at least Cecil manages to speak with enthusiasm through his embarrassment. Maybe Kain can pick that up one day. But for now he gives whatever he can. “Thanks.” His voice is quiet, but he hopes his relief is audible. “Your voice…grounds me. It’s…my home.”

“I will always be your home.” Cecil smiles. “Rosa and I, we will always be there for you.”

Kain nods and closes the distance between their mouths. This time there is no rush in ending the kiss, or deepening it, or turning it into something else. Warm lips press against warm lips until Kain feels a bubble in his throat. He breaks apart the kiss with a sheepish smile.

“Tell me what you want, too,” he says as he moves his hands to Cecil’s shoulders. “So I can make you happy.”

“I will.” Cecil pecks Kain’s nose. “I love you Kain.”

Kain is tickled by that soft gesture. He replays the moment, so he can remember it later. This is what Cecil wants. Kain too can be a better listener, a better lover. He rubs his fingers into Cecil’s shoulders as Cecil claims Kain’s mouth next.

“I love you Cecil,” he murmurs between their next kisses. Two, three, five… Kain quickly loses count, but he hears Cecil say his name multiple times, keeping him here, keeping him…home.

*****

Cecil’s still awake, but he doesn’t mind, actually.

Kain lays in the bed, sleeping peacefully. Cecil’s surprised Kain fell asleep so quickly, since all they did was share soft kisses. To think he could have Kain like this… This was not how he felt when left the room earlier, nor when he returned and found only Rosa…

He wonders if he should wander off to find Rosa, to tell her she can come back already, but he also doesn’t want to leave sleeping Kain alone. Kain sleeping like this is just…precious.

Cecil might screw up again in the future, because talking so much while they are…is still kind of embarrassing. But the determination Kain showed in trying to make things right, by baring his heart and trying to talk more is just… It’s inspiring.

Though it is funny that, after all the soft kisses he finally shared with Kain, finally felt comfortable asking for… Cecil feels a surging desire to mark Kain. Not because he’s afraid Kain will leave, but because he…loves Kain like that too. He’ll never stop loving the way Kain sounds when he gasps or moans from Cecil’s bites, or Cecil’s…

But it would be a pity to wake Kain up right now. So Cecil lies down instead, threads his fingers through Kain’s long blonde hair. He presses against Kain, so that there is still some space on the bed, so that if he falls asleep Rosa can still slip in the bed. It would be amazing, actually, if he could be in the middle with Kain on one side and Rosa on the other. It’s incredibly selfish, and yet…

They both love him. And he loves them both.

“I love you, Kain, Rosa.”

And he shuts his eyes, falling asleep to Kain’s warmth, to Kain’s steady breathing, his heart steady, full, and at peace.

omake

Kain: Rosa? What’s wrong?

Rosa: Everything fine, but… I’m wondering… How do I get Cecil to…mark me like he marks you?

Kain: I’m not sure… He just…does?

Rosa: You don’t ask for it?

Kain: I never have? It just seems natural.

Rosa: I see…

Kain: Perhaps he finds your soft skin too beautiful to want to mark up. It’s certainly something I have thought myself. And perhaps… Since he’s always been freely rough with me, he doesn’t feel the need to be rough with you? When he’s not sure you…

Rosa: That’s rather…

Kain: He’s denser than a stone wall, right? You said so yourself.

Rosa: How silly?

Kain: Rosa?

Rosa: I have to communicate my wants with words, right? I should take my own advice.

Kain: I’ll yell at him for you. Or I… Will threaten to mark you myself, if he’s such a coward.

Rosa: Let me just try following my own advice first. But I’ll let him know that, too, if he still hesitates.

Kain: Good.

(A few days later…)

Kain: Are you happy, Rosa?

Rosa: Very. Turns out you were right, after all.

Kain: He’s rather…predictable.

Rosa: Yes. We love him for that.

(A few weeks later…)

Rosa: I’m relieved we are both getting what we want, but…

Kain: Something is still missing?

Rosa: No, I am just thinking…variety.

Kain: Hmm?

Rosa: In the…bedroom.

Kain: Maybe some time we should double-team him.

Rosa: Well, I suppose we have left him rather unmarked in comparison to… The idea sounds good.

Kain: Let us surprise him. Uh… It’ll be easier if you sneak in while we are…

Rosa: Of course. Let’s show him how much we both want him.

Kain: Deal.
