Asuka turned around, caught a glimpse of a face. Maybe she was feeling exhausted, but she would never give up, not now, not ever. “Shiori I…”
She stumbled. Her energy was fading, but there were still Greed to fight. No, not now, she couldn’t falter now, not when…
“Asuka!”
Warm hands on her face. Thumbs caressing her cheeks, wiping the corners of her eyes. Asuka opened her eyes and looked into Shiori’s worried amber eyes. Asuka realized she was sitting at her desk at school…so she had been dreaming? She sighed in relief. Good, Shiori was safe…
“Shiori…it was just a bad dream…thank goodness….”
Shiori smiled and released Asuka’s face. “Do you want to talk about it?” she asked quietly.
“No, it’s fine.” Asuka stood up and took Shiori’s hand. “Let’s go home.”
As they walked out the school grounds and headed towards Brick Alley, Asuka held Shiori’s hand tightly. This person beside her, her most beloved person…this was her new pillar, and she would fight and protect her until the end.
