Short summary: Bambi and Kenta go to Hokkaido again, this time as a couple.
“Just sign here. Your room is 601. Please take the elevators to the left to the sixth floor to reach it.”
Bambi waits with the two suitcases while Kenta finishes signing the paperwork. She looks around the lobby and sees that there aren’t many people around. Because visiting Hokkaido in the fall is not a busy time, especially during the weekday. But she has memories of a different time, some 5 years ago.
Teenagers all over the place, chatting, laughing, running around. Noise, noise, and more noise. And she couldn’t hear Kenta’s voice at all, let alone see his figure.
Yes, visiting Hokkaido this time around will be very different from the first time. She knows Kenta is looking forward to their time together here as well.
“Bambi?”
Kenta takes one of the suitcases and leads the way. They don’t say much in the elevator or in the hallway until they reach their hotel room. It’s small with one double bed and just enough space to navigate around, but that’s perfectly fine. It’s not like either of them are making a lot of money yet, just having finished university, and Bambi would rather spend it on souvenirs.
“Where do you want to go first tomorrow? Oh, wait, maybe we should figure out dinner tonight first. What are you thinking?”
Bambi laughs and takes Kenta’s hand, signaling that everything is fine and that he can relax. He does so and they decide to walk to a restaurant nearby, a diner that is a bit livelier because of the kids and families inside.
“Anywhere is fine, as long as it’s with you,” Bambi says as they wait for their food.
“Huh? Oh, yeah. That’s good. As long as we can take photos together.”
Bambi raises an eyebrow. She’s a bit confused; it’s not like they haven’t taken photos together before. She has a whole album of photos on her phone of just the two of them.
“Yes, this time we can take all the photos we want together.”
“Hmm?” It seems that there’s something important about being able to take all the photos together this time. Bambi wonders if Kenta’s thinking back to their high school trip, where…
“Oh, nothing.”
His small smile indicates that it’s likely. He’s still a bit shy about asking for what he really wants. But now that Bambi knows this, she’ll make sure his wish is granted.
