Kou had asked and Shio had responded. It had been a simple exchange. Then they had joined the rest of their friends by the stage, waiting.
They looked at each other and exchanged smiles. Simply standing near each other was… Neither of them was brave enough to move any closer. Neither of them was brave enough to say anything more.
For Kou, he was living in the present, appreciating what he had, knowing what he could easily lose. For Shio, he too was appreciating what he had but knew that things could soon change. He would graduate, and before that he might take some college entrance exams and book a spot far away from Morimiya. So it did not feel appropriate for him to start something…
Both were appreciating this night, to remember and treasure someday in the distant future…
