“Here we go again…”
Erika sighs as she observes the hullabaloo caused by the Sasaki twins’ latest prank gone sour. Even if they have been more careful about considering other people’s feelings, their serial need to play pranks still results in problems. Thankfully they know to leave Erika alone. Chidori too, likely due to her ability to sense danger…
“Hey, Erika.” Chidori’s voice breaks Erika out of her musings. Erika turns her head to look at her partner. “Would you ever prank me?”
“No way.” Erika immediately makes a face. The thought of all the cleanup she would have to do afterwards, regardless of whether the prank succeeded or not, is enough to make her head hurt.
“But you did something to Suoh…”
“That was once, to get her attention.”
It also caused more trouble than Erika had wanted to, but how was she to know just how much trouble Suoh would bring with her? Suoh had looked so quiet and anti-social, but then again, falling for someone who catches so much attention… Erika can’t blame Suoh when she’s in a similar situation…
Chidori pouts. ‘You won’t do it again?”
“I have plenty of your attention.” Erika sighs. “More than enough.”
Chidori hums. “How about if I pranked you?”
“I’d get payback twofold even if you were the one who pranked me.”
Right now Rikka is playing peacemaker between Ichigo and the first year who was the unfortunate prey of the prank. Erika would only bother with mediating peace if that was what the harmed party desired. A prank against her, though, would be seen as an act of aggression and she would respond accordingly.
“What type of payback?” Chidori leans in closer. The way her body seems to shield Erika’s feels like she is creating a world just for the two of them to share secrets. The sudden increased intimate feeling makes Erika’s cheeks heat up.
“Are you trying to test me today?” They are still in the dining hall where anyone could observe them. “Chidori, if you just want my attention you can just…”
Erika cuts herself off before she finishes that thought. No, she definitely can’t say that out loud or Chidori would actually do it here, right now…
“Just…?”
“Never mind.” Erika turns her face away and plays with the hem of skirt as if something about it suddenly bothers her. “Take me back to our room.”
A moment passes. Chidori finally shifts backwards. “Got it.”
Erika exhales in relief when she feels her wheelchair being pushed by Chidori. Perhaps the conversation will pick up again when they return to their room but at least there is this buffer period for her to come up with some strategies to send it sideways…
