Short summary: Chidori interrupts Erika’s solo reading time to borrow one of Erika’s shirts after her own is splashed with orange juice.
“I’m just going to need to change—”
“You don’t have to announce yourself, idiot.”
It was an accident of course, and Ichigo already apologized profusely. But more importantly, Chidori needed to change out of her juice-covered shirt. Erika had been holed up in the room reading a book when that all happened, so she has no idea what shenanigans occurred to cause this accident. She just knows it was Ichigo’s glass of orange juice that splashed all over Chidori’s shirt. Which caused Chidori to run back to the room, throw the door open, announce herself loudly even if her normal voice would have been plenty to divert Erika’s attention away from her book…
Yeah, her book. The one she was hoping to finish reading today? But Chidori’s interruption has thoroughly distracted her. Erika sighs. Chidori probably needs to leave before Erika can return her attention to her book. Especially now that Erika has acknowledged that they are more than just Amitié, she has found herself more aware of Chidori than ever, sometimes distracted by a thought about her even in said person’s presence! To be such a lovesick fool…
…It shouldn’t take this long for Chidori to find a new shirt, right? The longer Chidori spends at the closet, the more Erika’s fear solidifies. Because if Chidori is not finding it quickly, it probably means…
“Aha! This will do.” Chidori giggles. “I wonder how it will fit…”
The giggle is ominous. Erika was trying not to look at Chidori who might be half undressed but now she has to look. And has to complain. “You can’t just take—”
Chidori is holding one of Erika’s shirts. Erika knows immediately not because it looks much different than her own, but because of the look on Chidori’s face,
Chidori pouts. “You won’t share?”
“That’s not the point.” Erika sighs. Amitié or not… “You should ask first.”
“Then I’ll ask.” Chidori smiles. “Can I borrow your shirt?”
Erika shrugs. “Sure. Just don’t stretch it.”
It’s not that Chidori would stretch out the shirt by wearing it; Erika is probably slightly bigger in the chest area. It’s the tendency of Chidori to take something of Erika’s and do something weird with it, like she is doing right now.
“Hmm, it smells good…”
Like sniffing Erika’s clothes. “We use the same laundry detergent, idiot.”
“Because it’s Erika’s!”
Erika just shakes her head. She could continue arguing her point, because she knows she is right logically. But when Chidori is in this state, she’ll argue back just for argument’s sake, as well as sneakily get more compliments. And she doesn’t deserve either right now, not when she should just change her shirt already. The way that the wet spot is starting to make the one she’s currently wearing more and more see-through… Erika has to look away.
“Just make sure you get your stained shirt to the wash as soon as possible. We can’t be losing a shirt to something like this.” And Erika can’t have Chidori taking her clean shirts or she will have nothing to wear!
…She hopes Chidori doesn’t read minds.
“Don’t worry, you can wear my shirt once it comes back clean!”
Chidori is already gone before Erika can say anything else. She shakes her head and reopens her book. “It’s just a shirt…”
But she wouldn’t complain about wearing one of Chidori’s freshly laundered ones…
