Short summary: Lubart asks about Klaudia's new bracelet.
“By the way, where did you get that bracelet? I don’t recall you wearing one before.”
Lubart would not consider himself the most knowledgeable person with regards to Klaudia nor someone who is extremely overprotective of his only daughter, especially now that she is of adult age and working as a full-grown merchant herself, but he believes he knows a few things about his daughter. One being that she is rather reserved, preferring simpler and meaningful pleasures instead of fast and flashy. Another being that she is kind and courteous to everyone but rather slow at relationships. A third being that she is self-conscious from her tone of voice to her appearance, so any part of her outfit is a deliberate choice.
Hence his question about the bracelet that he hasn’t seen before. He is not prying for secrets or casting suspicions; he is merely curious.
“Oh! It’s from Ryza!”
The way that Klaudia replies with a smile and no hesitation immediately puts a matching smile on Lubart’s face. Then the words sink in.
“Ryza?” Lubart has known for a while that Klaudia and Ryza met and even went exploring together once more while Ryza was in the capital. After all, when it comes to Ryza, Klaudia can’t keep quiet. Nor does she need to; Lubart considers himself indebted to Ryza still for all she has done for Klaudia. But to have a gift, and to wear it so openly… “Oh, of course.”
“Father?”
Lubart shakes his head. “It’s nothing important. I’m just glad to hear you two are as close as ever.”
He doesn’t define what he means by “close”, for he knows this is something that Klaudia and Ryza themselves need to work out. He suspects Klaudia might not understand her feelings fully yet, and he has no guess as to how Ryza thinks, so… In any case, if they ever ask him, well…he will absolutely support them.
