Short summary: To Uta, Hiori is her sun.
“Come on, let’s go outside!”
The exclamation close to Uta’s ear causes her to jump slightly. It can only be one person who would do that to her in the library of all places. Uta looks up from her book at Hiori’s wide smile. She had just been enjoying a quiet time reading, her normal morning activity, but recently she’s been visited more and more by Hiori. Hiori, who doesn’t come to the library much for other reasons, as far as Uta knows, except to talk to Uta.
She feels her heart jump when Hiori’s fingers touch the skin of her forearm. “Eh…?”
“To get some sun! Come on, Uta!”
The way Hiori talks, it seems Hiori thought that Uta had reacted with confusion and not embarrassment. Then again Uta has seen Hiori with the other girls. Hiori reaches out and touches others so freely and casually and comfortably, as her way of sharing the warmth inside her with everyone. So her putting a hand on Uta isn’t strange, now that Uta isn’t her enemy anymore. But…
But Uta doesn’t touch other girls like this. Doesn’t let other girls touch like this. Her skin is pale and unmarked for the most part. She’s cautious and insular, and it’s not that she won’t be friendly with the others, especially Ao, but she only wants…
“O-okay…” Uta mumbles with her cheeks pink, as Hiori tangles their fingers together. Hiori pulls her up and then they are running out the door. Even if there is no rush, for it’s not like the sun is going to disappear from the sky anytime soon, there’s still that surge of energy that propels them forward, Uta thinks. Or she’ll just let Hiori lead her anywhere, anytime.
Because the sun in the sky is for everyone, but Hiori is the only person who can be Uta’s sun.
